School of Social Work Ethical Frameworks That Underlie Social Justice

Join the School of Social Work for this engaging and thought-provoking continuing education event. Facilitated by Llewellyn J Cornelius, PhD, LCSW, the goal of this workshop is to address the importance of social justice, ethics, and application to practice and policies. What do each of us mean when we say that we are committed to social justice? How do we negotiate change during uncertain times? And how do we approach change in social service programs with a social justice lens?

 The workshop will:

  • Review a range of social justice frameworks and compare these social justice frameworks against both the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) and International Federation of Social Workers (IFSW) codes of ethics
  • Explore how these frameworks are used for social justice initiatives
  • Discuss how social workers can address social justice initiatives given our current political climate

By the end of the workshop, attendees will be asked to consider their own programs or initiatives according to the different social justice frameworks, consider how the social justice frameworks may help them in re-aligning their programs, and consider how their role as a social worker can aid in ethically addressing community needs.

Participants will receive 3.0 Ethics CEUs upon completion of the event.

Registration Cost is $40, and sign-in for the event begins at 8:00 am.
