The Transformation to “Version 2.0”: UGA Celebrates Graduate Commencement

As the University of Georgia concludes its most recent commencement season, we celebrate the incredible achievements of the 1,585 graduate students who received their master’s, specialist, and doctoral degrees. For the many professionals and advanced scholars at the UGA Gwinnett Campus, this milestone represents more than just a credential—it is a transformation.

During the graduate ceremony, Ron Walcott, Vice Provost for Graduate Education and Dean of the Graduate School, urged the Class of 2025 to reflect on their evolution. He described the graduates as “Version 2.0” of themselves, now equipped with “exceptional critical thinking skills, a full arsenal of abilities, and deep knowledge” in their respective fields.

Dean Walcott offered three pieces of advice for the road ahead:

  • Celebrate your accomplishments and the hard work it took to reach this peak.
  • Leverage your advanced training to achieve your professional goals.
  • Pivot with agility when faced with factors beyond your control.

At UGA Gwinnett, we see this dedication every day in our classrooms and across campus. Whether you are just beginning your graduate journey with us in 2026 or preparing for your own walk across the stage, we remain committed to supporting your success.

Congratulations to our newest alumni—we look forward to seeing how you “pour back into the stream” and lead in your communities!
